Assam Police in a massive crackdown on Child marriage arrested 416 individual and 335 cases registered, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday stated.
Phase 3 operation against child marriage launched on the night of December 21-22, 2024 by Assam police in which 416 individual arrested and total of 335 cases registered. Today, the arrested individual will produce in court.
Taking on Social Media platform X and Assam CM stated, “#Assam continues its fight against child marriage. In Phase 3 operations launched on the night of Dec 21-22, 416 arrests were made and 335 cases registered. The arrested individuals will be produced in court today. We will continue to take bold steps to end this social evil!”
In Dhubri district alone 68 individual arrested from various area of the district on December 22, 2024 from involving and organizing child marriages.
The individual arrested from areas including College TOP, Bazar TOP, Dharmasala, Soulmari, Gauripur, Golakganj, Tamarhat, and Bilasipara.
“This operation underscores our zero-tolerance policy towards child marriage. Protecting children and ensuring their right to education and a safe future is our priority,” a senior police officer stated.
Further investigation is going on, to stop child marriages.
