Assam police arrested a man for extortion money using banned militant name United Liberation Front of Asom – Independent (ULFA-I) in Tinsukia on December 1.
The man was arrested at Kakopathar, Tinsukia, identified as Mitun Moran.
As per reports, the arrested man has allegedly demanded Rs.50,000 from a business man in Kokapathar, by claiming it was to cover the medical expended for a member of ULFA-I.
Acting on the complaint by the business man, Pengeri Police, Assam arrested Mitun Moran, during a raid conducted in the area of Tongona area. Sources further state that another suspected person named Surajit Moran, from Pengeri’s Nalani Village remain absconding.
Mithun Moran, the arrested man has been produced in Judicial custody.
Further investigation is underway to arrest the absconding accused.
