Assam Panchayat first phase of voting successfully took place in 14 districts from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm on 2 May, 2025. Overall, approximately 70.19 % of the Voter Turnout.
The 14 district are Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Majuli, Jorhat, Golaghat, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Cachar, Hailakandi and Sribhumi.
The Panchayat election has successfully taken place, but in several areas’ violence clash erupted in the polling station. For these reason Assam State Election Commission (ASEC) has announced that fresh polls, or re-polls for 43 polling station, across 5 district.
This five district where re-poling will be held are:
Hailakandi: 31 polling stations
Sribhumi: 8 polling stations
Lakhimpur: 2 polling stations
Golaghat: 1 polling station
Majuli: 1 polling station
The re-polling will help keep the election fair and clear, as directed by the Election Commission.
