The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam arrested a sub divisional officer for accepting demanded bribe.
On September 21, a team of Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam launched an operation and trapped red handed Subodh Das, Sub Divisional Officer, Territorial Building Sub Division, PWD&NH, in his office at Mirza,Distt-Kamrup after he accepted demanded bribe from complainant.
He demanded bribe from a contractor to expedite the processing of bills.
The investigation against was initiated after a complaint has filed by contractor Bichitra Rabha. He reported that Das initially demand bribe of Rs.22,000, later the amount reduced to Rs. 20,000. Based on the complaint the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam has set up a string operation.
The arrested government officer caught red handed after he accepted Rs. 15,000 amounts as a part of the bribe. The bribe was seized in the presence of independent witnesses.
A Case has been registered at the ACB Police Station under Case No. 72/2024, in accordance with Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Further investigation is going on.
The Directorate of vigilance has announced it through social media. They stated, โToday @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red handed Subodh Das, Sub Divisional Officer, Territorial Building Sub Division, PWD&NH, in his office at Mirza,Distt-Kamrup after he accepted bribe from the complainant for processing his bills.โ
