Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption has arrested a forest range officer for accepting bribe in his office on June 15, 2024 of Jorhat, Assam.
Today, based on information a team of Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-corruption has launched an operation in Jorhat. In Jorhat, Assam they successfully trapped a forest range officer and caught red for accepting bribe from a person. The forest officer identified as Eqbal Ahmed. He caught red handed for accepting amount of Rs.30,000 bribe in his office. He accepted the bribe for issuing a license.
Further investigation is going on.
Upon searching his government quarter where he lived the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam team recovered cash Rs. 1456500/-(fourteen lac fifty six thousand five hundred) has been recovered and seized.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma stated this on his social media platform, โToday, on 15.06.2024, the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption team conducted a successful operation in Jorhat. Forest Range Officer Eqbal Ahmed was caught red-handed in his office accepting a Rs. 30,000/- bribe for issuing a license. Justice in action.โ
Earlier, two days ago a Senior District Administrative Assistant of officer of the District Commissioner (DC), Silchar, Soumya Kanti Bhattacharjee has arrested for accepting advance of demanded bribe.
