The flood situation in Assam remains serious. Yet, rescue work is moving fast. The Indian Army has taken charge on the ground. Under Operation Jal Rahat, troops have already saved more than 200 people.
This Assam Flood Rescue mission began after a request from civil authorities. Soon after, four Flood Relief Columns were deployed. These teams belong to the Red Shield Division under Spear Corps. They reached key flood-hit districts. These include Sivasagar, Charaideo, and Jorhat. As a result, many stranded families got immediate help.
Relief Teams Work Across Districts
The Army has placed teams in Nazira and Amguri in Sivasagar. At the same time, units are active in Sonari and Jorhat. They are handling rescue, evacuation, and relief work. First, teams use boats to reach flooded areas. Then, they move people to safer places. After that, they provide food and medical aid. This step-by-step effort is helping many survive.
Moreover, medical teams are treating the injured. Essential supplies are also being distributed. Because of this, affected families are getting quick support. To track the situation, the Army is using drones and helicopters. These tools help identify high-risk zones. So, rescue teams can act without delay.
Meanwhile, engineering teams are repairing damaged roads. This improves access. As a result, relief materials can reach faster. The Assam Flood Rescue operation is not working alone. It is being carried out with district administrations. NDRF and SDRF teams are also supporting the mission. Together, they are managing the crisis better.
The Army has kept extra resources ready. If the situation worsens, more teams will be deployed. Officials have confirmed full support to the state government.
