A shocking incident came into light that a young woman allegedly raped and murdered after being forced to consume poisonous substances in Kandigram in Katigorah, Cachar.
According to the complaint, the 19 years old woman was in a relationship with a man named Saiful Uddin from Tintikri village, Katigorah. On January 4, Saiful Uddin allegedly lured her away from home with promise of marriage. Trusting him, she ran away with Saiful, unaware of what lay ahead.
After that he reportedly raped her and later took her to his house, where his family members allegedly beat her. They also forced her to drink a poisonous substance.
After all this incident Saiful took the victim to Katigorah Model Hospital. However, learning about the illness the victim family arrived at the hospital, Saiful and his family fled from the hospital after admitted her.
Due to her critical condition she was referred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Struggling for her life, she died two days later during treatment. On January 6 she declared dead. Her dead body has sent for post mortem examination.
The victim’s mother said they had filed an FIR with the local police on January 9. The victim’s uncle stated, “Saiful ran away with my niece, tortured her, forced her to consume poison, and then left her on the road. They also took all her belongings. While she was in treatment, she told her mother she wouldn’t survive and wrote down the names of four people who had raped her. She asked her mother to seek justice.”
After the incident, the family filed a complaint at Katigorah Police Station against Saiful Uddin and seven others.
The police have started an investigation.
