60% of Terrorist killed in Jammu & Kashmir are Pakistani, says Army Chief

Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Monday said that 60 % of the terrorists killed in Jammu and Kashmir were Pakistani Nationals. He also stated that during a time when efforts were being made to combat terrorism, 80% of the terrorists active in Jammu and Kashmir are from Pakistan.

The Army chief informed the media about security concerns along the northern borders, stating that the situation is “sensitive” but stable.

Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said, โ€œ60 per cent of terrorists killed in Jammu Kashmir are Pakistani. 80 per cent of the terrorists active in the state are also Pakistanis at a time when we are moving towards tourism from terrorism.โ€

Army Chief on Eastern Ladakh Situation and Border Security

The Army Chief confirmed that the situation in the Depsang and Demchok regions of eastern Ladakh has resolved. He mentioned that patrolling and traditional grazing activities have resumed in these areas. Additionally, he authorized all co-commanders to manage issues related to patrolling and grazing at the ground level to resolve minor concerns directly at the military level.

“Our deployment along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) is well-balance and robust. We are well-prepared to handle any situation. The development of focused capabilities for the northern borders has led to the integration of advanced technology into our war-fighting systems,” Dwivedi said.

Jammu & Kashmir Army Chief Highlights Media and Security Forces Collaboration

Dwivedi emphasized the importance of collaboration between mass media and security forces for national security and nation-building.

“I strongly believe that media and security forces can work together to support nation-building and strengthen national security. My mission is to ensure full-spectrum preparedness while transforming the Indian Army into a self-reliant, future-ready force that plays a key role in national security and contributes to nation-building,” Dwivedi stated.

Violence in Manipur and Ongoing Security Efforts

Addressing the situation in Manipur, the Army Chief acknowledged ongoing violence but assured that security forces are working diligently to restore peace.

“In Manipur, incidents of violence are continuing, but our security forces are actively working to bring peace. Enhanced surveillance and control over the Myanmar border are underway, and fencing is also in progress,” Dwivedi said.
