Young Couple Commits Suicide in Silcoorie, Cachar, Assam

On September 6, people discovered a young couple, a boy and a girl, hanging from a tree in Silcoorie area, which is 30 km far from Silchar city in Cachar. They both commit suicide as they loved each other, but both of their families did not accept this union.

A shocking incident took place in Silcoorie, Cachar where a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy committed suicide. They were discovered by the locals hanging from a tree behind Maharishi College in Silcoorie in the early hours of Friday. When the locals saw the hanging bodies, they searched for their families and called police.

According to information, the girl had left her home at around 10:00 pm on Thursday night, and the boy had left his home at around 10:30 pm. Villagers found their bodies early the next morning at around 5 am and called the Ghungoor Police Station, Cachar.

The boy’s father shared the events before the tragedy, explaining that the girl’s father had confronted him about their children’s relationship in the evening. The boy’s father also said that the girl’s father accused his son for visiting his house frequently “He complained to me about my son and told me to control him as he frequents went their house to meet the girl. I told him, ‘I can’t control my son because he’s a boy, but you can control your daughter. She’s the one meeting him.’ I told him to manage his own household,” the boy’s father explained.

In the meantime, at around 10:30 am, the boy left his house. When the boy’s father asked him where he wanted to go, he replied, to see the girl because her father hit her in the head and she was bleeding. His father didnโ€™t allow him to go, but he did not listen and went to meet a friend to call her and ask if she was okay. Then he left and never came back. His father said, โ€œI kept looking out towards the road from my varenda, but he never came back.โ€
