A short circuit incident took place in Guwahati, where a worker critically injured at the Goswami Service site in Guwahati on May 17 morning. A short circuit disrupted construction activities at an ongoing flyover project.
The injured worker identified as Saibul Haque, critically injured, raising serious concerns over safety standards at major infrastructure worksites. He critically injured after making contact with live electrical wires.
After the Short circuit incident, emergency services responded immediately and he was taken rushed to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). Doctors have confirmed his condition as critical, prompting an urgent call for better safety infrastructure and medical preparedness at construction zones.

The eyewitness also accused the authorities of negligence, stating, “What’s even more shocking is that I repeatedly called the Chandmari police, but no one responded. Only the fire services arrived at the scene, carried out their duties, and took the injured person to GMCH,” the commuter added.
The flyover, currently under construction, is a fundamental component of the city’s transportation development initiatives. While it holds the promise of alleviating traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity, the incident has temporarily paused work as officials investigate the cause of the short circuit, ensuring a safe environment for workers to resume their tasks.
