Women Empowerment Scheme In Mizoram:

Establishing a Cutting-Edge IT Resource Centre for Skill Development:

A project was initiated in 2007 with the goal of creating an advanced IT resource centre to cultivate highly skilled individuals in the field of information and communication technology (ICT). The primary focus was on open source technology, networking, the internet/intranet, office automation, website development, multimedia content development, and applying IT in fashion and textile design. The primary aim was to provide free IT education to 10,000 women and rural youths over a 5-year period, specifically emphasising soft-skill computing and business communication abilities. This Women Empowerment Project, funded by the Department of IT, Govt. of India, targeted skill enhancement by organising women into small, viable groups and providing training facilities along with access to credit.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT SCHEME

Under this initiative, women from the NGO MHP & HTP and rural youths from MICLUN were selected to receive free one-month courses in various IT skills. The training was provided without any cost, and study materials were distributed to the trainees at no charge. The courses covered an array of subjects, with a focus on specific certificate programmes to enhance skills required for available IT jobs in the market.

Promoting Skill Development and Employment Opportunities in Mizoram:

The overarching objective of this project was to equip women in Mizoram with the necessary IT skills aligned with the prevailing job standards in the IT market. Through the provision of free training and study materials, in association with women NGOs and rural youth groups, the project sought to enhance the employability and skill levels of individuals, aiming to enable them to meet the demands of the evolving IT industry.
