A major Manipur Drug case has come to light. Security forces made a big catch in Senapati district. They seized over 15 kg of suspected opium. At the same time, they arrested one man on the spot.
The incident happened during a routine check. It was around 9 a.m. at T. Khullen check post. A joint team was on duty. The team included Senapati Police, CRPF units, and Assam Rifles. They were carrying out regular frisking. However, one vehicle raised suspicion.
🔍 Fake Identity Used to Avoid Checks
Soon after, officials stopped a Toyota Innova. The vehicle looked official. It had a VIP flag post. It also carried markings linked to a senior Army officer. But something felt off. The car had no escort. That made the team alert.
The driver was identified as Tarkeshwar Singh, aged 45. He is from Tinsukia district in Assam. During checking, officials noticed more red flags. The car displayed a Brigadier rank insignia. It also had “ARMY” and “MINISTRY OF DEFENCE” written on it.
However, verification told a different story. The man had no link with the Indian Army. The vehicle was also fake in identity. Investigators believe he used these markings to skip security checks.
📦 Opium Hidden in Secret Compartment
Next, the team carried out a detailed search. What they found was shocking. As part of this Manipur Drug case, 17 packets of suspected opium were recovered. The drugs were hidden inside a specially made compartment. It was located under the rear door.
The total weight came to around 15.350 kg. Soon after, officials arrested the accused. The arrest took place in front of an Executive Magistrate. Along with the drugs, they seized the car. They also recovered mobile phones, cash, and ID cards.
A case has now been registered under the NDPS Act and BNS. Meanwhile, police have started a deeper probe. They are trying to find the source of the drugs. They also want to track where it was headed.
This Manipur Drug case has raised serious concerns. It shows how smugglers use fake identities. More importantly, it hints at a bigger network. Further investigation is underway.
