Two people lost their lives and several others were injured after a Maruti Ertiga crashed into a stationary truck on the national highway at Tetelia, Khetri, on the outskirts of Guwahati early Friday morning.
According to reports, seven people were travelling in the vehicle when the accident occurred. The deceased have been identified as Imran Ali of Adhar Khunda, Juria, and Hafizuddin of Maheirpar. At least four others, including Imran Ali’s son Ikramul Hussain, sustained serious injuries and are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Residents said the collision took place around 4:30 AM on Friday, and dense morning fog, which reduced visibility, is believed to be a major factor behind the accident.
A local resident shared, “We heard a loud bang early in the morning. When we came out, we saw that a car had rammed into a stationary truck. Around eight people were inside — two died on the spot.” An ambulance passing through the route immediately transported the injured to a hospital.
It has been learned that the passengers were travelling to Shillong for a medical emergency when the tragic accident occurred.
