On Monday, a video has been viral, where students are using phones during Assam HS exam in Tumulpur, Assam. After video went viral, immediate action took by Assam Government. Three students barred from Assam HS exam and Centre In-Charge, Principal Bibhuti Deka, has removed from his position and replaced with Circle Officer-cum-Executive Magistrate Smti Elima Kandulna.
In the viral video A teacher voice heard advising the students to leave some questions unanswered to avoid raising suspicions about their performance.
According to reports, the incident took place on February 14, while writing Paper I at the Talmulpur Higher Secondary School. While the incident discovered after the cheating video went viral on Monday.
Officials from the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) confirmed that three students expelled from Paper I of the Assam HS exam for using smartphones to cheat. They will not receive their final results. Tamulpur district magistrate Pankaj Chakraborty stated that the students admitted to bringing smartphones into the exam hall.
The district magistrate has asked the Tamulpur circle officer to submit a detailed report by Monday. A senior ASSEB official believes that the invigilator and the examination centre in-charge may have involved, and action against them considered.
“After reviewing the viral video footage, three students seen using smartphones while writing the paper. They were openly cheating. Without the involvement of the invigilator and examination centre in-charge, the students could not have used such unfair means,” the official said.
Education Minister Ranoj Pegu released a noticed on the viral video. In the noticed it stated that, “to prevent further malpractices and ensure strict adherence to the examination guidelines, the Inspector of Schools, Tamulpur, hereby directed to submit a detailed report today itself for further necessary action.
Now, therefore, in the interest of fair and transparent conduct of examinations, the Circle Officer-cum-Executive Magistrate, Tamulpur Revenue Circle, Smti Elima Kandulna, is hereby entrusted as the Centre In-Charge of Tamulpur H.S. School in place of Sri Bibhuti Deka, Principal Tamulpur HS, with immediate effect until further orders.”
