A disturbing incident raised concerned about security in Sribhumi, on 25th May late night, theft incident took place at former BJP president Subrata Bhattacharya Home.
According to initial reports, the intruders forcefully broke the latch of the house’s prayer room and made off with valuable items, including expensive furniture and rare religious artifacts. The break-in is believed to have occurred in the early hours of May 26.
Soon after the crime was discovered, a police team arrived on the scene and began a preliminary investigation. Forensic experts and local officers inspected the entry points and questioned nearby residents.

Locals also mentioned that no such incidents occurred during Bhattacharya’s time in office as district president. But the fact that the theft incident happened shortly after he stepped down has led to speculation about the motive and timing of the crime.
Residents are questioning whether the lack of political visibility has made prominent homes like Bhattacharya’s more vulnerable to criminal activity.
The theft incident has renewed focus on the declining law and order situation in Sribhumi and surrounding areas. Many residents are openly criticizing the ineffectiveness of local night patrols, especially on isolated stretches like Langai Road.
Despite being visibly disturbed by the incident, Subrata Bhattacharya has not issued a public statement, choosing to remain silent as the investigation continues.
Public urges the authorities to tightening the security of the area. Further investigation is going on.
