In a late-night operation, Sribhumi police arrested two men from Nilambazar in the Jalalabad market area after recovering a country-made 9mm pistol and fake currency worth ₹48,000 from their possession.

Acting on a specific tip-off, police conducted a swift raid in Ratabari’s Jalalabad market, leading to the detention of two suspects. Upon inspection, officers found the counterfeit notes and the weapon hidden beneath the seat of their motorcycle. A live round was also recovered from the pistol, police sources confirmed.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abidur Rahman (28) and Anowar Hussain (29), both residents of Taltala village under the Nilambazar police station.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the duo may be connected to a larger counterfeit currency and illegal arms network operating in the region. Authorities are now probing whether the suspects had come to Jalalabad to distribute the fake notes or to collect them from another source.

Police interrogation of the two accused is currently underway to expose the full extent of the racket and trace others involved in the operation.
