A four-wheeler went up in flames late Wednesday night after a high-speed collision in Guwahati ’s Noonmati Sector-3 area, causing panic among commuters.
According to sources, the speeding Baleno, which was heading from Geetanagar towards Noonmati, suddenly lost control and rammed into another vehicle. Moments later, it caught fire, leaving the road engulfed in smoke and flames. Fortunately, both the driver and a passenger managed to escape with minor injuries.
The vehicle, registered as AS01GJ4410, was quickly brought under control by alert police personnel present at the spot. The charred car was later towed to the Noonmati Police Station, where the two occupants were also taken for further legal procedures.
Preliminary findings indicate that the driver was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and driving at excessive speed, leading to the loss of control. Several other vehicles on the road narrowly avoided collision with the out-of-control car.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident. Thankfully, no fatalities were reported.
