Silchar Polling officer has passed away due to heart attack this morning (May 1), just day before first Phase of Panchayat Election of Assam 2025.
On May 2, the first phase of Panchayat Election is going to take place in several district of Assam. Among the district Cachar is one. Today, morning a polling officer, Nurul Haque Choudhury, aged 55 was preparing to leave for ISBT Silchar in Ramnagar, where is strong room of election materials kept. He wanted to go here to collect election materials. Before he could leave, he suddenly felt chest pain and collapse at his home.

A neighbour said, “This morning, he complained of chest pain and suddenly collapsed. He was about to go to ISBT.”
Nurul Haque Choudhury, was immediately taken to Silchar Medical College and Hospital, but doctors declare him dead on arrival.
He worked as a Rural Health Inspector under the Office of the Joint Director of Health Services. For the upcoming elections scheduled on Friday (May 2), he was appointed as Polling Officer One at a booth in Nagdirgram, Sonai.
