A 25-year-old woman was shot dead in Noida by a man who allegedly became violent after she refused to marry him, police said on Saturday. The accused, Krishna (26), is currently on the run, and several police teams have been formed to locate him, according to a PTI report.
The shooting took place on Friday evening at a paying guest facility in Noida Phase 2, where the victim, Sonu (25), lived. Police said Krishna entered her room and opened fire following a heated argument.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Shakti Mohan Avasthy stated that preliminary findings point to a personal dispute leading to the incident.
Police personnel reached the spot soon after receiving the alert and rushed Sonu to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Sources revealed that the woman, a native of Amroha, had previously worked with Krishna at a local factory, and the two had been in a relationship. Sonu later switched to work as a domestic helper. Investigators said Krishna, originally from Bihar, had been pressuring her to marry him, and her refusal appears to have triggered the fatal shooting.
