An NIT Silchar Alumnus Bangladeshi student Sadat Hossain Alpi is facing strong criticism for posting an anti-India post on social media. He has recently completed his Bachelor of Technology from NIT Silchar.

He post a memes which is anti-India post. In this post, it appears he shared content that criticized or made fun of India. Which, reflecting a negative sentiment towards the country. Despite receiving a high-quality education from an Indian government institution, he also joined. The memes that he shared, originally posted by the Department of Memes at Rajshahi University, on their Facebook Account.

The post has sparked strong reactions across the Barak Valley, including at NIT Silchar.

Many Indians have criticized the post, pointing out the irony of such negative comments coming from someone who studied in India, benefited from its hospitality, and its education system.

In response, Bajrang Dal has filed a police complaint against Alpi at the Ghungoor police outpost in Silchar, demanding legal action.

Regarding the controversy, Alpi has updated his social media profiles to clarify his position, claiming that his accounts were hacked. “I have no hate for Indian people, but my ID was hacked; the previous post was not made by me. Sorry for that,” he wrote in his Instagram and Facebook bios.

Cachar police conducted enquiry on NIT Silchar Alumnus Bangladeshi Student Post

Cachar police shared a post by stating, โ€œIn response to the dissemination of objectionable posts on social media, a comprehensive enquiry was conducted, involving a visit to the institution and interactions with officials and students. The investigation revealed that the offensive post was made by one Sadat Hossain Alphi, Course: B.Tech, Branch: Computer Science Engineering. Duration 2020-2024 July, An alumnus of NIT Silchar, who is currently residing in Bangladesh. The institution is actively addressing the matter with the competent authorities. While we are keeping sharp vigil and efforts continue to ensure peace and tranquility.โ€
