Massive Fire Broke out in the vehicle parking area of Varanasi ’s Cantt Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh on Friday late night.
At least 200 two-wheelers have been gutted into fire. No casualties reported in the incident.
A video from the scene show that fire flames engulfing the parking lot, as fire brigade and police teams worked relentlessly to bring the blaze under control.
Police teams were also involved in the effort to take the situation under control. While, the fire department managed to extinguish the flames after a two-hour operation. Emergency teams, including 12 fire brigade vehicles, the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and local police, were mobilized to tackle the situation. Despite the extensive damage, no injuries were reported.
Cause of the Fire at Varanasi Railway Station
Initial investigations indicate that a short circuit was the likely cause of the fire. An Eyewitnesses said that a short circuit occurred around 10:30 PM on Friday, prompting electricians to address the issue. However, another short circuit occurred a few hours later.” Reported by HT.
“Some bicycles were also caught in the flames,” noted CO GRP Kunwar Bahadur Singh, who confirmed that authorities are conducting a thorough investigation.
Many of the vehicles destroyed in the fire belonged to railway employees.
One railway worker stated, “I parked my bike around midnight. Earlier, there had been a short circuit reported around 11 PM, which was fixed. A few hours later, I learned from a fellow passenger about the massive fire. I quickly moved my bike to safety, but the flames spread rapidly across the lot.”
