A devastating accident has taken life of at least 10 devotees, who was way to Maha Kumbh Mela, Prayagraj for holy dip in Sangam on Friday midnight. 19 others injured in the accident.
According to reports, a Bolero Car carrying the devotees was way to Maha Kumbh, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh from Chhattisgarh. The car collided with a bus on the Mirzapur-Prayagraj highway.
In this collision 10 Kumbh Devotee loss their life and 19 others injured.
All the devotees who died are belong to Kobra, Chhattisgarh. The bus also had pilgrims from Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh, when the accident happened.
Prayagraj Additional SP Vivek Chandra Yadav said, “Ten people died after a car carrying devotees from Chhattisgarh to the Maha Kumbh collided with a bus. The accident occurred on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway around midnight. The bodies have been taken to Swaroop Rani Medical Hospital for post-mortem. Further investigation is going on.”

President Droupadi Murmu stated, “The news of the death of many people in a road accident on Mirzapur Highway in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh is unfortunate. I express my condolences to the families of the deceased. I wish for the speedy recovery of all those injured.”
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said Maha Kumbh accident injured devotee sent to Hospital, Prayagraj
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep condolences on the loss of lives in a road accident in Prayagraj district. He has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased.
The Chief Minister has immediately sent the injured to the hospital and directed the district administration officials to provide them with proper treatment. Along with this, he has also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Earlier Accident in Prayagraj
On Tuesday, seven people from Andhra Pradesh lost their lives when their tempo traveler crashed into a truck on a highway in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur district. They were returning from the Maha Kumbh.
On Monday, a couple from Agra died, and four others were injured after their car collided with a truck while returning from the Kumbh. Station House Officer Rudra Pratap Singh stated that the truck was seized, and the driver was detained.
In another incident on Monday, a man from Rourkela, Odisha, died, and six others were injured when their car, heading home from the Maha Kumbh, collided with a bus in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district, according to the police.

Maha Kumbh Mela has started from January 13, 2025 and will end on February 26, during Maha Shivratri. According to Uttar Pradesh Government as of Friday 6 Pm, over 92 lakh devotees had taken Holy dip, bringing the total crowd to over 50 Crore.
