Jammu and Kashmir Landslide: Two pilgrims women died and one girl critically injured following landslide occured on the new track to the Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.
According to reports, the landslide took place at around 2.35 pm on the new track near Panchi, three kilometers ahead of Bhawan. In this incident a portion of an overhead iron structure is also damaged, an official said.
The pilgrims women who died were heading for the shrine when they got trapped under the iron structure following the landslide.
The CEO of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board said that the disaster management team have reached the spot.
Deputy Commissioner of Reasi district, Vishesh Paul Mahajan confirmed the two deaths of the pilgrims. He said that two women died and one girl critically injured in the landslide incident.
The commissioner said that senior police and civil administration have rushed to the scene and further details are awaited.
He also said that he himself also heading to Katra- the base camp for the pilgrims visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine atop Trikuta hills.
