Katigorah, Cachar Landslide: Four Houses Destroyed, Five Injured

Due to intensive rain, a devastating landslide struck Talkar Grant village under Mahadevpur Gaon Panchayat in the Katigorah constituency late last night. This landslide destroyed four residential houses and injured five people.

The landslide has triggered by continuous rainfall. This landslide resulted in the total collapse of the houses belonging to: Sumes Das, Neelkantha Das, Anandadayak Das and Rita Das
All household belongings were lost in the disaster, leaving the affected families homeless and in urgent need of relief and rehabilitation.

Five Injured, Two in Critical Condition due to landslide in Katigorah

Members of Sumes Das’s family were severely impacted by the collapse. The injured include:
• Sumes Das
• Arati Rani Das
• Haribal Das
• Sumitra Das
• Brajabasi Das

Local people acted swiftly, which result rescued of the injured and transporting them to Jalalpur Block Primary Health Centre.

Three victims were treated in the hospital for minor injuries and discharged. But Haribal Das and Sumitra Das were referred to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) due to serious injuries. They are currently under medical observation.

Disaster Response and Local Support Needed

The Katigorah administration is yet to issue an official statement. But local sources report that residents are in urgent need of medical assistance, temporary shelter, and relief materials.

With the Barak Valley experiencing frequent floods and landslides due to heavy rains. The need for disaster preparedness and infrastructure reinforcement has become more critical than ever.
