Assam’s Karimganj conducted a major anti-narcotics operation on 29 December 2024 in two different place of Karimganj district. This operation results the seizure of illicit drugs valued at approximately Rs 8 crores. Two individuals detained in connection with the operation.
Massive Haul in Karimganj
Based on secret information Karimganj Police team led by Police Super Pathapratim Das launched an operation near Karimganj Railway station. There they arrested two drug peddler among them one is women.
They came with the drugs from Mizoram and on the way Tripura they were arrested in New Karimganj by the police. Police recovered 15 soap cases of suspected drugs containing 200 grams and 10,200 Yaba tablets.
The drugs peddler are from Agartala. The drug peddler identified as Safiqul Islam and Sumitra Das.
In another operation the anti-narcotics raid, concentrated in Churaibari check post in the Karimganj district, near the Tripura border. Reports indicate that like all time the police team went to check the truck in that time the truck flee from the truck this make the police doubt.
So they check the truck perfectly and found 120 cartons containing 18,100 bottles of banned cough syrups. The peddlers wanted to smuggle the banned cough syrup with the Maggi’s Carton and Sauce Carton. But they failed as police seized.
Seizure Details: Yaba Tablets and Banned Cough Syrups
Officials revealed that the seized contraband included 10,200 Yaba tablets and 120 cartons containing 18,100 bottles of banned cough syrups. The estimated market value of the confiscated Yaba tablets and drugs amount to be 5 crore. On the other hand banned cough syrups amounted to Rs 3 crores, respectively, contributing to a total seizure worth Rs 8 crores.
Foiled Smuggling Plans and Swift Police Action
The swift and decisive action of the police thwarted the smuggling plans of the detained individuals. The operation effectively prevented the illegal transportation of the seized drugs across state borders.
Legal Proceedings Initiated Against Accused
