Hailakandi Police has major crackdown on trading scam involving Rs 16 crore, which result one mastermind, and two suspects on run. Police now launched man hunt to arrest the remaining suspects. This fraud has allegedly affected 200 victims across Barak valley, which makes it as one of the region’s largest scam of the year.
On January 27, Hailakandi police has arrested Dipanjan Nath charges under Section 318 (4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The scheme attracted individuals with the promise of high returns, offering Rs. 1.8 lakh for every Rs. 1 lakh invested within a month. Victims have stated that the scam mainly targeted young people and gathered money from different parts of the Barak Valley. This trading scam operates under the name of Finsurge trading.
This Trading Scam came into light when a man named Joydeep Paul, filed a formal complaint. An FIR has been registered under case number 18/2025 in Hailakandi police station. He stated that he had never received his promised return.
According to source, two other individual named Partha Pratim Debnath and Raja Dey, along with arrested Dipanjan Nath suspected to be the mastermind behind the scam. Both Partha Pratim Debnath and Raja Dey is on run. Several documents came into light shows that several people lent money to Partha Pratim Debnath.
Partha Pratim Debnath, is from Kailashahar in Tripura, while Raja Dey is from Srikona in Cachar. Dipanjan Nath, who is now in custody, is from Hailakandi. This trio managed the trading scam from Silchar, where there office situated in Ragirkhari, Silchar.
