Guwahati Issues Traffic Restriction For India-South Africa Test

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Guwahati has announced a series of strict traffic regulations around Barsapara ahead of the 2nd Test of the IDFC First Bank India vs South Africa Test Series, scheduled from 22 to 26 November 2025 at the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Stadium.

The traffic plan aims to ensure the safety of children, senior citizens, students, differently-abled persons, and to maintain clear access for ambulances, fire tenders, and school buses.

Key Traffic Restriction in Guwahati

1. Vehicle Restrictions (6 AM to 6 PM)

Commercial goods vehicles and slow-moving vehicles will not be allowed on:
B.K. Kakati Road, A.K. Azad Road, A.K. Dev Road, Kula Basumatary Road, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Path, Mora-Bharalu Path, Rajib Gandhi Path, F.A. Road, Dhopoliya Road, Bishnupur Road, R.K.C., Road, Birubari-G.M.C. Road, Pandit Din Dayal Upadhyay Road.

2. One-Way Routes

• A.K. Azad Road: One-way from Lalganesh Tiniali to Cycle Factory Tiniali from 6 AM. Vehicles without car passes from Lokhra Chariali will be diverted at Lalganesh Tiniali towards Hayat Hospital.
• Kula Basumatary Road: One-way from Barsapara Tiniali to Dhirenpara Tiniali for car-pass vehicles only.

3. Drop-Off Pass System

Vehicles with drop-off passes must drop passengers at Barsapara Tiniali or Dhirenpara Tiniali and then move to designated parking areas.

4. Road Closures

• Mora Bharalu Road: Closed from both ACA Stadium and F.A. Road sides.
• Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Path: Only NH-27 to Shyam Mandir movement allowed. Other vehicles will be diverted via A.K. Dev Road and Banabasu Road to Ganeshpara Tiniali.

5. Parking Restrictions

• No parking on:
  • Kula Basumatary Road (Barsapara–Dhirenpara)
  • A.K. Azad Road (Cycle Factory–Lalganesh)
  • A.K. Dev Road (Ambari Tiniali–Champabati High School)
• Single-side parallel parking allowed at:
  • Champabati High School to Garchuk (A.K. Dev Road)
  • Dakhingaon Tiniali to NEF College (Kanaklata Path)

6. VIP Vehicle Movement

Vehicles entering through Gate No. 1B with VIP passes cannot exit until the match ends. After the match, they may exit via Barsapara or Dhirenpara Tiniali. Entry into Kula Basumatary Road will remain restricted during crowd dispersal.
