Tension between India and Pakistan after Pahalgam terrorist attack
Tensions between India and Pakistan have sharply intensified in the aftermath of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. For the fifth night in a row, Pakistani forces engaged in unprovoked ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, prompting a strong military response from Indian troops.
Citing cross-border links to the Pahalgam incident, New Delhi has taken a series of stringent actions. These include suspending the decades-old Indus Waters Treaty, shutting down the Attari land border crossing, and expelling Pakistan’s military attachés from India. Additionally, all Pakistani nationals who entered India via the Attari border have instructed to leave the country by May 1.
Reacting to these measures, Pakistan has closed its airspace to Indian airlines, halted bilateral trade—including trade through third-party countries—and suspended the Simla Agreement.
