On 13 May, a team of Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam trapped handed an executive engineer of PHE in Guwahati and arrested him. He trapped red handed when accepted an amount Rs. 20,000 as bribe from the complainant.
Following this trapped they conducted a raid in the house of the engineer. During the time of search in his house an amount of Rs.79,87,5000 which is nearly 80 lakh rupees has recovered from his house. The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption has said this via there official profile in X.
They said, “Ref: (Trap of Jayanta Goswami, Executive Engineer, PHE) During search of his house at Hengrabari, Guwahati, cash Rs. 79,87,500/- (seventy nine lac, eighty seven thousand and five hundred ) has been recovered and seized by a team of Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption.
The Executive engineer identified as Jayanta Goswami, Executive Engineer, officer of Superintending Engineer of Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department of North Lakhimpur in Guwahati.
He was arrested after a complaint was filed. The team of the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption execute an operation where they trapped him red handed after he accepted an amount of Rs.20,000 bribe from the complainant.
The bribe that he demanded for clearing the payment bills.
