Golaghat Police Encounter: A Gunfight took place between Golaghat Police and dacoit ganga in the area of Bokakahat, Golaghat district of Assam at early morning on 21 June,2024. In this incident one leader of Dacoit injured after a bullet shot in his body and two other arrested.” Said officials.
The Police Encounter took place in the Agortali region of Bokakhat subdivision, Golaghat district of Assam. The incident unfolded in the early hours where the dacoit gang open fired at the police.
The police identified the dacoit who injured as Pallav Basumatary, part of three-member gang.
The officials informed that he has taken to Swahid Kamala Miri Dub Divisional Civil Hospital in Latabari village of Bokakhat for treatment. The police team also managed to arrested the other two member of the dacoit. They identified as, Babu Saikia and Gautam Doley.
Police seized a 9mm pistol with four live bullets from the possession of the dacoit gang.
The Authorities also linked the gang in connection with several case like car and bike thefts. According to police, Gautam Doley one of the arrested person has history sheeter. He has primarily involved in Rhino poaching for a long time.
Officials also mentioned that the arrested gangsters were also involved in the shooting of a local teacher named Uday Changmai. The gangsters who were arrested are now being prepared for legal action, while the police are waiting for the third partner to recover before taking further action.
