Assam Divisional Forest Officer arrested for accepting Rs. 30,000 bribe in Golaghat

On 20 June, Assam divisional forest officer arrested for accepting bribe of Rs.30,000 in Golaghat.

A team of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam has launched an operation to trap the officer, based on complaint.

The contractor who filed the complaint mentioned that DFO officer has demanded Rs. 1.5 Lakh bribe.

The team has trapped red-handed when he accepted an amount of Rs.30,000 as bribe in his official residence at Golaghat from the complainant.

The arrested DFO officer identified as Jnana Ranjan Das, AFS, DFO (Divisional forest officer), Social Forestry, Golaghat, Assam. He accepts the bribe from the complainant for not cancelling work order.

Further investigation is going on.

The news about the bribery has announced by Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam through there official website.

They stated, “ @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped Jnana Ranjan Das, AFS,DFO, Social Forestry, Golaghat, after he accepted Rs.30000 as bribe in his official residence at Golaghat, from the complainant for not cancelling work order. This trap is second trap.

Earlier today, a Forest beat officer arrested after he accepted bribe from the complainant in office for allowing unhindered movement of his vehicles carrying Forest products.

The forest officer identified as Gopal Deka, Forest Beat Officer, Gabhoru Beat, Dist- Sonitpur.
