Cachar SSP Numal Mahatta told the media that the accused caught after police received a tip-off about his activities. Samid was pretending to be a sub-inspector and demanding money from people, promising them jobs as drivers in the Assam Police.

The SSP said that during the investigation, they discovered that Samid had several sets of police uniforms for different seasons and even a nameplate in his name. “With such an appearance, anyone could easily mistake him for a real police officer,” Mahatta explained.

Using these uniforms and accessories, Samid managed to fool many unsuspecting job-seekers and cheated them of money.

Investigations also revealed that before posing as a police officer, Samid had even pretended to be a doctor, treating patients and prescribing medicines without any qualifications.
