Diwali 2024: Diwali, also known as Deepawali, a festival of light and is one of the most significant and widely celebrated festivals in India and among Indian communities worldwide. Diwali symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.

The festival usually falls between mid-October and mid-November, depending on the lunar calendar, and lasts for five days, each with its own unique significance. This festival starts from Dhanteras and ends in Bhai Dhooj.

History of Diwali

The history Diwali has one of the most beautiful story. And one of the most famous one who is about to return Lord Ram, along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman, to their kingdom Ayodhya after 14 years of their exile, after defeating demon king Ravan.

On this day people of Ayodhya celebrate their return by lightning Diya at entire city and brusting fire crakers.

After this day, even today people of India celebrate Diwali, where people light diyas, string lights, candles and welcome Lord Ram, his wife Sita.

In addition to the Ramayana, Diwali is celebrated for various reasons in different regions. For some, it marks the worship of Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity.
While for others, in some parts of South India Diwali celebrates Diwali as the victory of LordKrishna over the demon Narakasura. As this day is celebrate as Naraka Chaturdashi or Chohoti Diwali is some of India. Each of these stories highlights the festival’s themes of triumph, renewal, and hope.

Diwali Celebration

On the day of Diwali festival, people light their home with diya, candle, as it represent the triumph of light over dark. People also celebrates it by bursting firecrackers, symbolized joy and celebrating.

People exchange gift, sweet, dry fruits and new cloths with each other, decorates home with rangoli.
