His research helped him find that the pulses were coming from a place in the Gulf of Guinea called the Bight of Bonny. He shared his findings at a conference in 2013 held by the Seismological Society of America.
Possible Causes Behind the Pulses
A researcher and seismologist named Garrett Eule says the heartbeat caused because of oceans waves and the pressure difference in the water during its movement,” reported in Wionews.
He stated that when the waves of the oceans hit the continental shelf, the pressure deforms the ocean floor. This might be causes of seismic pulses.
However, another scientist of China Yingjie Xia, says that the heartbeat is the result of volcanoes activity.
Yingjie Xia, a Chinese scientist from the Institute of Geodesy and Geophysics in Wuhan. He stated that he believes the pulses may be linked to volcanic activity, pointing specifically to a volcano on São Tomé Island in the Gulf of Guinea. He also noted a similar phenomenon near Aso Volcano in Japan.

Despite its mystery and intrigue, scientist does not give time to solve the mystery of earth’s heartbeat. Seismologist Doug Wines told Discover Magazine, “We want to determine the structure beneath the continents, things like that. This is just a little bit outside what we would typically study.”
