Delhi CM Rekha Gupta allegedly attacked by a man during ‘Jan Sunwai ‘programme at her official residence in Civil Lines on Wednesday morning, the BJP said. Police inquiry into matters is underway and a suspect arrested. According to BJP state president Virendra Sachdeva SM has suffered minor head injury in the attack.

During the morning public hearing, the CM was interacting with the public. Suddenly, a person came forward, placed some papers in front of her, and abruptly tried to grab and pull her hand. In the ensuing scuffle, her head hit a corner. People have apprehended the individual. The police are investigating the matter – State President Shri Virend Sachdeva

Delhi police arrested a man named Rajesh Sakriya (41 years), who originally from Rajkot in Gujarat attacked Delhi CM Rekha Gupta. Delhi Police contacted his family, and his mother, Bhanu. His mother told the media that Rajesh is a dog lover and was upset about the Supreme Court’s recent order to move stray dogs in Delhi-NCR to shelters. Some reports also say that 41-year-old Sakaria went to the public meeting to ask the Chief Minister for help after a relative was arrested. Delhi Police has not given an official statement yet.

According to reports, Delhi CM Rakha Gupta holds public hearing at around 7 am everyday. To attend the public hearing 100 of people reached with their complaints. Today the attacker also reached the CM residence with a bag and some papers.

An eyewitnesses said the attacker approached the Chief Minister pretending to file a complaint. He first handed over some papers but suddenly began shouting and then attacked the CM. The Chief Minister received minor injuries but is safe, officials confirmed. BJP leaders have hinted at the possibility of a political conspiracy behind the incident. Meanwhile, police questioning the accused in detail, and CCTV footage from the spot examined as part of the investigation.
