Cachar Police seized Drugs in Jirighat, Assam-Manipur border

Cachar Police, on February 22 seized huge amount of Yaba Tablets worth Rs 7 Crore, one accused arrested at Jirighat, Assam-Manipur border.

Police intercepted drugs smuggling attempt after they arrested a man named Chungkang Leotang resident of Tamenglong district of Manipur. Based on secret input, Cachar police conducted an operation in Hawkip Punji, under Jirighat Police station. During the raid police arrested the drug peddler and seized a plastic bag containing 24,000 Yaba Tablet.

Cachar SP Numal Mahatta stated, โ€œWe had secret input from reliable resources regarding drugs shipment in Howkip Punji under Jirighat Police station and we conducted a special operation. During the raid, we arrested an individual from Manipurโ€™s Tamenglong district and found a plastic containing 24,000 Yaba Tablets.โ€

He also added, โ€œour investigation indicates that a joint drug circuit exists between these two states. The arrested individual crossed the Jiri River before reaching Jirighat, where we arrested him. We are also seeking cooperation from Manipur police to this racket.โ€

Further investigation is under way.

On same day Cachar police on tip off, launched a raid a house of Lienkhosat kuki at kharjong Bosti under Jirighat PS and apprehended him with a seizure of 27gm of suspected heroin from his possession. Investigation is on.
