A police Constable from Barpeta suspended after a video of taking bribe went viral in social media on March 31. The constable identified as AB Constable 591- Sanjay Kalita of Barpeta DEF.
The police constable allegedly demanded bribe from a youth who from Dangarkuchi, for not wearing helmet while riding bike. In video we see that police stopped them and after taking side of the road and take money from a youth. This video went viral on social medial.
Barpeta police stated, “Reference to a video circulating on social media of a Police Constable accepting a bribe. During the investigation, he was identified as AB Constable 591- Sanjay Kalita of Barpeta DEF. He was immediately suspended, and legal proceedings are underway.”
Upon learning about the bribe incident SP Sushant Biswa Sharma immediately launched and investigation into the matter. When the incident found confirmed, he ordered suspension of Constable Sanjay Kalita.
This case highlights police corruption and raises concerns about accountability.
