The Barak Valley has delivered a notable performance in the HS Examination 2026. This year, the results show both progress and concern. While some districts improved, others still lag behind.

Across Assam, around 3.2 lakh students appeared in Arts, Science, and Commerce streams. Out of them, nearly 2.62 lakh students passed, keeping the overall success rate close to 80 percent.

In Barak Valley, the focus remains on Cachar (Silchar), Sribhumi, and Hailakandi. Each district tells a different story.

In Silchar (Cachar), Science stream performed well. About 2,420 students appeared, and 2,133 passed, giving a pass rate of 88.14 percent. Arts stream saw over 12,500 candidates, with 7,503 students clearing the exam. Commerce results stayed stable with a pass percentage above 77 percent.

Meanwhile, Sribhumi showed consistent growth. In Science, 1,641 students appeared, and 1,515 passed, pushing the pass rate above 92 percent. Arts stream also did well, with more than 7,300 students passing out of over 9,200 candidates.

However, Hailakandi faced challenges. In Science, around 1,073 students appeared, and 871 passed, resulting in about 81 percent success rate. Arts stream remained weaker, with pass percentage below 65 percent.

Key Trends Across Assam and Barak Valley

Firstly, Science continues to lead. Many districts crossed 85 percent. This shows a clear shift towards science education.

Secondly, Arts stream had the highest participation. However, results varied a lot. So, consistency is still an issue.

At the same time, urban areas like Guwahati (Kamrup Metro) recorded strong results. Commerce pass rate stayed above 83 percent, while Science crossed 86 percent. Better facilities clearly make a difference.

In contrast, Barak Valley is improving steadily. Yet, rural gaps still affect performance.

In conclusion, the Barak Valley results highlight growth, effort, and scope for improvement. With better support, the region can aim for even higher success next year.
