A Shocking incident come out from Assam University, Silchar. A female student of the Assam University has faced sexually harassment by an Auto Rickshaw driver in the area of Irongmara, Cachar.
According to information on August 19 evening, the student was on her way to home from university in Irongamara village. She board an auto as usual to went her resident, as the auto back seat was full of goods, so, she asked by the driver to sit in the front seat. Upon reaching the destination, when she gave him fare, the driver shocking open the zip of the pant and exposed himself to her, this left student frightened and traumatized. The driver also allegedly passed lewd comments during journey. The student immediately runs from the scene.
After the incident, she immediately logged filed an FIR at the Assam University police outpost, demanding swift action against the auto driver. The Assam University Student Union come in support of the victim. The Union President, Shubham Roy released a statement.

According to the Statement of Assam University, Silchar Student Union President
He stated, “Yesterday, on Rakhi, one of our sisters from West Bengal faced a disturbing incident. Now we know that days in all over India we are protesting for the demand of justice of Kolkata incident, even we also staged a rally in the night. After that also on the day of Rakhi, when we were busy of the Rakhi program in university, an incident took place with female student. She basically was from West Bengal. An auto driver misbehaved with her by pulling down his jeans and exposing himself when she was paying the fare. After she told us what happened, we quickly took action and began searching for him. We also filed an FIR with the police, but even after 24 hours, they hadn’t caught the driver.”
“Later, another student told us she had a similar experience with an auto driver and gave us a phone number that might be his. We called the number and asked him to come to the university gate. Luckily, it was the same driver who had harassed the first student. Before the police could act, the Student Union caught him and handed him over to the police,” the student leader added.
The student union also identified the auto driver as Badruz Zaman Zaman Faruque, a resident of Fakirtilla near NIT Silchar. Before the police could arrest the driver, the student managed to caught him and hand over the driver to Police.
The Assam University, Silchar Student also urged the authorities to installed CCTV cameras around the campus perimeter to deter similar incidents in the future.
The investigation is underway.
