Assam Police arrested two absconding accused in Dhing minor girl gangraped on Friday, September 6, said police.
Police said that both the two accused surrendered before the police on Friday and today they will be produced Infront of court.
The two accused identified as Faridul Islam Khan and Gulap Uddin, both are from Nagaland. They both arrived at the Nagaon Superintendent of Police (SP) office and surrender themselves.
Nagaon SP Swapneel Deka said on Friday, “Both of the accused has surrender today (September 6). We are now interrogating them. We will take action and will arrest them. Procedures is going on. Tomorrow, we will produce them before the court and will seek remand. We are searching following the incident and the family members told us that they want to surrender themselves.”
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma also informed in the social media that they were arrested. He stated, “The Assam Police have arrested both absconding accused in the Dhing rape incident.”
There was three accused, who raped the minor girl, one of them Tafazul Islam has died after falling into a pond and drowned while trying to escape from police. Police recovered the dead body from local pond on August 24.
The incident took place on August 22, where three accused allegedly raped a minor girl when she was returning home from tuition at around 6 pm. She was found by locals in semi-conscious staged near pond with her bicycle beside her. The locals then called the police who come recovered her and sent her in hospital.
