A Man is on the run after he brutally murdered his wife in a remote farm hut near Assam-Mizoram border. Police of both states launch search operation to catch the Accused.

According to reports, the accused husband Khalil Uddin Barbhuiya (40 years), allegedly killed his wife Hassan Begum Barbhuiya (35 years) inside a hut located in the Zukbual paddy fields near Buhchangphai village in Kolasib district, Mizoram. This area is known for rice cultivation, which lies near Assam-Mizoram border boundary.

The incidents took place on Friday while the children was playing outside the hut. The murder incident came into light the next day when the local landowner, who had employed the couple to tend his field lodged a complaint at the Vairengte police station.

Police believe Khalil attacked Hassan with a sharp machete. Her postmortem was done at Kolasib district hospital, and the body was later taken to her native village in Hailakandi district, Assam.

Investigations reveal that Hassan had recently visited her hometown in late March and was believed to have run away with another man. After finding out her, Khalil and a few others brought her back to the farm hut. The murder happened soon after her return.

Khalil fled right after the incident and police are now searching for him. Further investigation is going on.
