A horrific incident took place in Dwarbond’s Paloi Tea Estate in Assam’s Cachar district, where an eight-year-old boy was allegedly beheaded over a long-standing land conflict. Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the case.

The victim child identified as Debjit Roy, 8 years-old girl son of Dilip Roy, had been missing since noon on August 10. Later, his beheaded body recovered from a forest near his home. This incident shocked the local residents.

Cachar Police launched an intensive investigation, and on August 11, police detained four suspects Jayprakash Keot, Amit Kumar, Ratan Bauri, and Ronju Bauri in connection of the murder of the child.

Officials stated that the accused had a long-running dispute with the boy’s father, which allegedly led to the murder.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Cachar Senior Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta said, “We have been investigating this case closely. During an operation last night, we apprehended three main suspects, including a woman. Preliminary findings indicate they are directly linked to the crime. This is a deeply tragic case, and we will ensure all responsible individuals are arrested, possibly by tomorrow (Wednesday).”

Police confirmed that the investigation remains active, and further arrests may follow if additional suspects are identified.
