Following the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, 15 people have been arrested across the Assam for posting offensive content on social media related to the Delhi blast.
15 Arrested Across Assam for Offensive Posts
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), CM Sarma said:
“In connection with the offensive social-media posts following the Delhi blasts, 15 persons have been arrested across Assam so far. In addition to the 6 arrests made yesterday, overnight we have arrested the following persons also: 1.Rafijul Ali (Bongaigaon) 2.Forid Uddin Laskar (Hailakandi) 3.Inamul Islam (Lakhimpur) 4.Firuj Ahmed @ Papon (Lakhimpur) 5.Shahil Shoman Sikdar @ Shahidul Islam (Barpeta) 6.Rakibul Sultan (Barpeta) 7.Nasim Akram (Hojai) 8.Taslim Ahmed (Kamrup) 9.Abdur Rohim Mollah @ Bappy Hussain (South Salmara) Assam Police remains uncompromising against those who glorify violence .”
The other six arrested man are Matiur Rahman from Darrang, Hasan Ali Mondal from Goalpara, Abdul Latif from Chirang, Wajhul Kamal from Kamrup, and Nur Amin Ahmed from Bongaigaon.

A day after the incident, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma strongly condemned the attack while speaking to reporters in Raha, Nagaon district. He urged citizens to remain united against any attempts to destabilize peace and revive terrorism.
The Chief Minister also revealed that he had instructed the state police to closely monitor social media platforms for posts that promote or support extremist ideologies, directly or indirectly.

“The blast in Delhi is highly condemnable. As we all know, a large quantity of explosives was seized recently, indicating a bigger conspiracy. Hopefully, we will get a clearer picture soon,” Sarma stated.
Later, in a Facebook post, CM Sarma confirmed the arrest of the five individuals, emphasizing that Assam Police will continue to act swiftly and decisively against anyone misusing social media to spread hatred or glorify acts of terror.
“Assam Police will not tolerate attempts to promote violence or terrorism online. Strict action will be taken against those involved,” the Chief Minister added.
