14 people lost life in Rituraj Hotel fire in Kolkata, among the dead people two was children and one woman. Thirteen others injured in this fire. The fire broke out on April 29 night.

Among the deceased people 5 individuals were taken to RG Kar Hospital, but all of them succumbed to their injuries on the way, doctors declared dead upon arrival. The deceased were identified as Rajesh Kumar Santuka (61), resident of Sector 6, Marakata Nagar, Cuttack, Odisha and Neeraj Kumar (20), from the Police Colony in Bhagalpur, Bihar. Among three unidentified individual one is 3-year-old child and two others to be around 45 years old.

Six deceased were taken to NRS Medical College and Hospital. The victims identified as Dipendra Ram (46), a resident of Ramnagar, Bihar, was brought in. The fire also claimed the lives of two children from Tamil Nadu — P. Diya (10) and P. Raut (3 years, 8 months). Additionally, the bodies of Pranoy Pathak (13), Aradhya Agarwal (22), and an unidentified 40-year-old male.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Medical College Hospital received the bodies of: S. Muthu Krishnan (61) and two unidentified individuals, estimated to be 45 and 50 years old.

Rituraj Hotel Fire incident

According to reports, massive fire broke out at Rituraj Hospital at around 8:30 pm on April 29 night. At the time of the incident there were 88 residents in 42 rooms in the hotel, along with 60 hotel staff. 14 people died and 13 people injured. At least 10 fire tenders deployed. The fire officials managed to brought fire under control at around 3:30 am of Wednesday, the mayor Manoj Verma himself gave this news. 

Search operation is going if any other bodies trapped inside the hotel. A total of 22 people were rescued alive from the hotel following the massive fire. Among them, 15 individuals were found on the rooftop, while 7 others were rescued from various rooms within the building. ragically, several lives were lost. The bodies have been recovered and sent for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh will give to the next of kin of the deceased

The PMO announced, “I am saddened by the loss of lives in the fire in Kolkata. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones and my prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured. Financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of each of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured will be provided from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund: Prime Minister @narendramodi”

CM Mamata Banerjee Stated, “Continuing to monitor the fallout of the unfortunate fire incident at a private hotel (Rituraj) in the Burra Bazar area and appreciate the Fire Services’ and police efforts in rescuing around 99 persons from out of most adverse circumstances. Also thankful to the local people for their cooperation and help in rescue operations. It has been preliminarily reported to me that those who died were victims of suffocation/ jumping etc. Further investigations are going on. State Government will give an ex-gratia @ 2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased, while the injured persons will get 50,000/- each. Reiterate my condolences and solidarity.”
