The Cyber Crime Police in Guwahati’s Panbazar have arrested a youth from Goalpara in connection with the illegal online piracy of late music icon Zubeen Garg ’s final film, “Roi Roi Binale.”
The accused, identified as Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Lakhimpur in Goalpara district, allegedly uploaded several scenes from the film on his YouTube channel, ‘Rafiqul R Blog’. He is currently being interrogated by the Cyber Crime team as part of an ongoing investigation into the case.
The arrest comes amid widespread outrage and grief among fans and filmmakers after “Roi Roi Binale,” Zubeen Garg’s dream project and last cinematic work before his passing, surfaced illegally on various online platforms within days of its theatrical release.
During a press conference at JIL Creations’ office in Guwahati’s Ambikagiri Nagar, the film’s director Rajesh Bhuyan and producer Shyamantak Gautam expressed deep disappointment over the piracy, describing it as a devastating blow to the Assamese film industry.

“The full-scale piracy of the film has taken an alarming turn within just a few days. Zubeen never imagined such a fate for Assamese cinema—it’s truly heartbreaking,” they said, condemning the act as a betrayal of Zubeen’s artistic vision.
Just days before Rafiqul’s arrest, another pirated version of the movie had appeared online, prompting massive backlash. It was Zubeen’s fans who first noticed the illegal uploads and promptly alerted authorities.
A group of his supporters later filed a formal complaint at the Latasil Police Station in Guwahati against the YouTube channel responsible for leaking the film. To prevent further dissemination, the channel’s name has been withheld by authorities.
