A tragic incident took place in Assam’s Sribhumi district which left the community in shock, a woman of Sribhumi district has beaten to death by in laws over suspected of marital affair.
According to reports, Anowara Begum, a resident of Anglabazar in the Badarpur police station area, succumbed to injuries sustained during a brutal assault by her in-laws. The incident has sparked widespread outrage and conflicting accusations between the two families involved.
Reports suggest that Anowara and Salim Uddin, an alleged lover were caught together by her husbandโs family. After that the family members tied the both of them with ropes and subjected them to a violent beating. Both were rushed to a hospital following the assault, but Anowara later died from her injuries.
The husband’s family justified the attack by stating that the attack was provoked by an extramarital affair, but Anowara’s family flatly denied it, stating that it was a premeditated murder. They also accused her in-laws of a history of abuse and alleged that the assault was a well-planned act of violence.
A case has registered at the Badarpur police station against four individuals, Unos Ahmed, Nazrul Islam, Siddique Ali and Ranu Bibi, Anowaraโs mother-in-law. Police have launched an investigation into both the assault and previous allegations of harassment faced by the deceased.
