West Bengal Train Accident: At least 8 people died and 25 seriously injured after a Goods carrying train rammed into Sealdah-bound Kanchanjunga Express. The accident took place on Monday morning at around 9.00 am at Ruidhasa in Darjeeling district of West Bengal.
The train number is 13174 Kanchanjunga Express whose accident occurred. The train was going from Tripura to Kanchenjunga.
Five passengers have died and 20-25 people injured seriously in the accident.
The death toll rises to 15.
Rescue operation is going on. DM, SP, doctors, ambulance and disaster management have rushed immediately to the scene.
CM Mamata Banerjee stated, โShocked to learn, just now, about a tragic train accident, in Phansidewa area of Darjeeling district. While details are awaited, Kanchenjunga Express has reportedly been hit by a goods train. DM, SP, doctors, ambulances and disaster teams have been rushed to the site for rescue, recovery, medical assistance. Action on war-footing initiated.โ
Union Railway minister tweets about West Bengal train Accident. He stated, โUnfortunate accident in NFR zone. Rescue operations going on at war footing. Railways, NDRF and SDRF are working in close coordination. The injured are being shifted to the hospital. Senior officials have reached the site.โ
Abishek Roy, Addition SP of Darjeeling said, โThe accident occurred when a goods train hit the Kanchanjunga Express from behind. Five passengers died in the accident, 20-25 people injured. The situation is serious.โ
A passenger of Kanchanjunga Express train said, โI was travelling in B1 coach when the train was hit. I have been rescued, I have suffered an injury on my head.โ

PM Narendra Modi announced Ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs from PMNRF to the next of kin of each deceased and Rs 50,000 to each injured in the railway accident in West Bengal.
