A shocking video from the Khanapara stretch in Guwahati has sparked widespread concern after it allegedly captured an overloaded or undocumented truck throwing cash onto the road to evade police checking.
In the viral clip, the truck driver is seen tossing money from the vehicle while traffic personnel stationed at the spot appear to ignore the act and allow the truck to enter the city. Although the video shows only a single vehicle, many fear this could be part of a routine practice involving multiple trucks every day.
The video was uploaded by social media user Sukumar Barman, who identifies himself as a social worker and frequently highlights civic issues online.
The footage also shows Barman questioning a traffic police officer present at the scene. Despite being repeatedly asked, the officer avoids responding and later denies accepting any money.
According to Barman, he has personally seen traffic personnel collecting cash dropped by several truck drivers even before he began recording.
The long-standing issue of overloaded and improperly documented trucks operating freely in Guwahati continues to trouble residents. Many point out that such vehicles often contribute to accidents and hazardous situations across the city.
As the video circulates widely, people are now questioning the integrity of the system, asking whether this represents the “Smart Police” image Assam Police aims to uphold.
