The Usha Kiran Yojana helps women and children who are victims of domestic violence. Domestic violence includes actions that harm the health, safety, or life of the woman and children (under 18 years old). This can involve situations where there is financial loss or damage that makes the women and children feel sad and humiliated.

Under this scheme, women and families facing physical, verbal, emotional, sexual, or economic violence or threats are invited to the office for counseling. Both families are talked to and efforts are made to settle disagreements about domestic issues.

If an agreement cannot be reached even after explaining everything, the complaints sent to the DIR. From there, they go to the project office to filed and presented in court.

The Government of Madhya Pradesh has started the scheme Usha Kiran Scheme to provide protection and assistance against domestic violence. Basically, they had started the scheme to protect women from violence.
