An unidentified dead body discovered floating at Barak River near Anna Purna Ghat, Silchar on October 26 (Friday) afternoon. Locals discovered the dead body and immediately called authorities of Tarapur Outpost.
After receiving the information, Police of Tarapur Police station immediately arrived at the scene along with magistrate, who helped retrieve the body from the river. After that the police sent the dead body to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for a postmortem examination.
The identity of the found dead body has not yet known. Police has been working to uncover the identity of the deceased. At time of reporting, no leads have emerged regarding who the individual might be.
Further investigation is going on and police are waiting for the report of postmortem to understand the circumstances surrounding the case.
